Apprentice: to bind to or place with a Labor Organization, or the like, for instruction in the electrical trade. Apprentices are dispatched by their Labor Organization to work with or for an Electrical Contractor. They will be re-located, or re-dispatched to various Electrical Contractors over the term of their Apprenticeship of 5 years.

Electrician Certification Program: A Program enacted by Labor Code 3099, by the signing of AB-931, by Governor Davis in 1999. It requires mandatory training of all electricians state wide by either Apprenticeship, or by On the Job Training (OJT). OJT is no longer acceptable as a training method under these regulations. It also reguires all Electricians to be certified by testing, and to maintain their status through Continuing Education and working in the field every 3 years.
