A message to Employees and Employers. As either an Employee, or Employer, you stand to be disenfranchised from either your business, or career. You need to know all of the details that may effect you. As an individual Employee, you have two options: - Wait for your Employer to pay for and find the time to train, or help you to take the test. That is if your Employer knows of the effect this law, and it's current "passed" status. If your employer does not know of this law, do he or she a favor, and direct them here.
- Study, pay for and take the test yourself, to save your hard earned career, and hopefully you will be at least partially reimbursed for this action. Because if your Employer does not give you option #1 above, and soon, it is you who will get the shitty end of the stick! And get disenfranchised from your chosen career. As an Employer you too, have several options: - Learn more about the requirements that your Employees need to satisfy, and follow.
- Learn more about the "what, where, and how" of what your employees can do, work or where they can work, and how. i.e. who they are supervised by.
- Learn more about the limitations imposed by certain classifications.
- Train, and pay for ( at least partially... ) the application and testing fees for your loyal Employees, and do this in house. Go back to the "Take the test" page. Then find the continuing education required by law to maintain them later. As described in #5 below.
- Join a Trade Association who'll assist in training and maintaining your Employees. You had better start soon! These Programs are filling up quick. Some examples: Associated Builders Association , and WECA. And, for those in the Alarm Industry California Alarm Association
