What is on the test, what is not? If you have been looking at some of the various websites concerning the California Electrician Certification test content, you'll find that some contradict each other. The reason for this, is that many sites were written as the test was still in development, some are misinformed, or deliberately misleading. The misinformed sites are re-using bad information, from old content, or never updated their content. ( Or, content from other States tests. ) The deliberately misleading sites out there are trying to scare you. ( Trying to scare you into buying their course material, is more like it. ) Recently, I have been contacted about this disparity, and having taken the test myself, feel I should clarify this. As the most valid of the sources for the test content, the California DAS, is a little vague about this. So, I'll let you know what I saw on the test, and what I did not see. What was on the test... Ohm's Law ( AC/DC ) Watt's Law ( AC/DC ) Kirchoff's Law ( AC/DC ) Motor Calculations ( AC/DC ) Per the '99 NEC tabulated methods, with issues of Duty and Service factors. All other questions were Code related, and came directly out interpretations of the Code book, which you are provided one for the test. What was not on the test... Not that you don't need to know these things! Conduit bending questions, except Code issues concerning use. Rigging First Aid Crane directions, and hand signals Legal, or Contract questions ( If anyone comes across any of these questions, please don't hesitate to let me know at the Webmaster link below, in case they might be added. Otherwise these questions were not seen. ) |
